Hrušovská zdrž
The idea to create Danubefishing and a community of fishermen engaged in fishing on the Danube first occurred to us in 2016. We knew that there were not that many fishermen, specifically carp fishermen, fishing on the Danube in the Hrušovská Reservoir. Although there are just a few such fishermen, they are very passionate about this demanding hunt on the big river; just like us! Many fishermen fish in areas such as Gabčíkovo and lower down the stream, or on the old Danube riverbed and its branches, set in the midst of beautiful riverbank nature.

THE FLOAT

Rent a float on the Danube near Bratislava at Hrušovská zdrža.
The float is 6×3 metres or 18 square metres big, catamaran type.
The vessel has a lot of advantages. It is spacious, comfortable, easy to operate and stable even in strong winds. Turning the float the right way allows for waves to pass right underneath it, which eliminates swaying and banging.
The float does not require any license, the so-called Boat riding license.

WHERE WE FISH
About Hrušovská Reservoir
The Hrušovská reservoir is part of the Gabčíkovo Waterworks since it begun operation in 1992. It was in this area, in the vicinity of the former Hrušov settlement, that the Waterworks damaged the Danube riverbank forests the most – the left branches of the Danube and the forests from Kalinkov to Mliečno (part of Šamorín) were flooded. Instead of an extensive and articulated river stream system, there is a vast body of water with an area of approximately 25 square kilometres. The Hrušovská reservoir is part of the Danube’s Protected Bird Area.
